Safer Workflow Publishing in GoHighLevel: Find and Resolve Errors Before You Publish

Publishing a workflow should not mean discovering configuration issues after it is already live. GoHighLevel has introduced a safer publishing experience that stops workflows with unresolved configuration issues from being published and clearly shows what needs attention.

With this update, validation errors are brought together in one place, workflows can still be saved while errors exist, and the Publish action now checks for unresolved issues before allowing the workflow to go live.

The result is a clearer process for identifying configuration problems and resolving them before publishing.

One Place for Every Workflow Error

Previously, the same workflow could show different validation errors in different parts of the interface. There was no consistent place where users could see every issue.

GoHighLevel now brings frontend and backend validation errors together in a single Highlight Error sidebar.

This gives users one coherent view of the errors associated with their workflow, regardless of where the validation issue comes from.

Each error also provides two clear actions. Users can select Open Step to go directly to the relevant trigger or action, or they can take AI's help to resolve the error.

This makes it easier to move from identifying an issue to working on it without having to search through the workflow manually.

Save Your Progress Even When Errors Exist

Another important change is how saving works when validation errors are present.

Previously, GoHighLevel blocked the save entirely when errors existed on the canvas. This could result in repeated error toasters and made the experience feel like something was not working correctly.

Now, both auto save and manual save continue to work even when errors are present.

This means users can stop working on a workflow without having to resolve every issue immediately. The work already completed can be saved, and the remaining errors can be addressed later.

Workflows can now be saved even when unresolved errors are present on the canvas.

The distinction between saving and publishing is important here. A workflow can now be saved while it still contains errors, but those unresolved errors will prevent it from being published.

Publishing Is Blocked Until Errors Are Resolved

The biggest change comes when a user tries to publish a workflow that still contains unresolved configuration issues.

When Publish is selected, GoHighLevel checks for unresolved errors. If any remain, publishing is blocked and a modal appears with a list of the outstanding issues.

Instead of allowing the workflow to continue through the publishing process with unresolved configuration problems, the user is directed toward reviewing and resolving those issues first.

From this modal, users can select Review Issues to open the Resolve Errors sidebar.

The sidebar provides the tools needed to work through the listed problems. For each error, users can choose Open Step to jump directly to the relevant trigger or action. They can also take AI's help to resolve the error.

Once the unresolved issues have been addressed, the workflow can be published.

How to Use the New Workflow Validation Process

The updated publishing process is straightforward:

1. Click Publish

When your workflow is ready, click Publish.

2. Review the unresolved issues

If the workflow contains unresolved errors, GoHighLevel will stop the publishing process and display a modal listing the issues.

3. Click Review Issues

Select Review Issues to open the Resolve Errors sidebar.

4. Open the relevant step

For each error, choose Open Step to jump directly to the trigger or action associated with that issue.

5. Get AI assistance if needed

You can also take AI's help to resolve an error.

6. Resolve the remaining issues

Work through the unresolved configuration issues until they have been addressed.

7. Publish the workflow

Once the workflow is clean, you can publish it.

Why This Update Matters

This improvement builds on a full year of validation coverage across triggers and actions.

The key change is that users no longer have to guess where a configuration issue is or rely on inconsistent error displays. Validation issues are brought together in the Highlight Error sidebar, individual errors provide direct actions, and the publishing process now prevents unresolved issues from moving forward.

At the same time, users are not forced to fix everything before they can save their work. Auto save and manual save continue to function even when errors are present, allowing users to preserve their progress and return to the remaining issues later.

The publishing gate adds another layer of protection by requiring unresolved issues to be reviewed and resolved before the workflow can be published.

A Clearer Path From Error to Publish

GoHighLevel's updated workflow validation experience brings error detection, saving, review, and publishing into a clearer process.

Errors are collected in one place through the Highlight Error sidebar. Users can open the relevant step or get AI assistance when resolving an issue. Work can still be saved while errors remain, but publishing is blocked until those unresolved configuration issues are addressed.

For anyone building workflows, this creates a more structured path from identifying a problem to resolving it and finally publishing the workflow.
